The festival is dedicated to young people from regional schools, connecting students from different parts of Lithuania, encouraging communication and collaboration, and giving them an opportunity to challenge themselves through sports and the arts. This year’s event was dedicated to the upcoming 100th birthday of President Valdas Adamkus. Sports have been an important part of his life since his youth, and the program continues to feature several sports he enjoyed in his younger years, including running, long jump, and soccer.

The event was organized by Butrimonys high-school in the Alytus District, Vytautas Magnus University, and the VMU President Valdas Adamkus Sports Center. The Kazickas Family Foundation has maintained a relationship with the high-school for many years and continues to support this tradition. The connection has deeper roots: KFF previously supported the Alma Adamkienė Charity and Support Fund, and today contributes to the continuation of a tradition that grew out of its work.

The theme of this year’s gathering was unity. In addition to the sports competitions, students took part in the “Letter to the President” open-air art workshop and the “Generation of the Century: We Sing for Lithuania” song festival. President Valdas Adamkus, who attended the event, welcomed the students and officially opened the celebration, emphasizing the importance of respecting one’s opponent and accepting losing as part of competition.

Now in its 11th year, the tradition continues the collaboration among schools once supported by the Alma Adamkienė Charity and Support Fund and connects young people from different regions of Lithuania.
