85th Wedding Anniversary of Alexandra and Dr. Joseph P. Kazickas
On August 15, 1941, Alexandra and Dr. Joseph P. Kazickas were married in Vilnius. That day marked the beginning of a long and meaningful life together – a life shaped by love for family, a sense of responsibility, dedication to their work, faith in people, and unwavering hope.
In her memoirs, Alexandra wrote:
Suddenly, Juozas put his arms around my shoulders, and pressed his face against my snowy cap. He started telling me that he had fallen in love with me long ago, and he was so happy that he was finally able to let me know. I stood silently, listening about how it had been fated for us to be together.
Their journey together was marked by many challenges and achievements – from the war years and their departure from Lithuania to successful lives and careers abroad, their enduring connection and meaningful contributions to Lithuania. Through their lives, they demonstrated how love for Lithuania can be transformed into meaningful action.
In 2002, following the publication of The Odyssey of Hope, poet Justinas Marcinkevičius wrote:
Yours is a remarkable partnership: Mrs. Alexandra’s diary pages bring lyrical color to your shared life and your shared book, enriching and expanding it. Great people, great Lithuanians, a great life…
To mark the 85th wedding anniversary of Alexandra and Dr. Joseph P. Kazickas, a special concert as part of the Kazickas Family Sacred Music Hours will be held on August 16 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Casimir’s Church. We invite you to be part of this evening dedicated to their memory and the life they shared.
